Custom Foot Inserts

Align and Support Feet

Reduce Stress on Joints

Custom Foot Inserts are designed to support your unique foot structure, improve alignment, and reduce stress on the body. These inserts can help relieve pain from plantar fasciitis, bunions, flat feet, and other common conditions by promoting better biomechanics during walking, running, and training. By correcting faulty movement patterns from the ground up, our custom orthotics enhance comfort, performance, and long-term joint health.

What are custom foot inserts — and how are they different from store-bought insoles?

Custom foot inserts, also called orthotics, are devices made to fit your foot and address the specific movement, alignment, or pressure issues contributing to pain or dysfunction. Unlike generic insoles you find at a pharmacy or running store, these are tailored to your unique structure, activity level, and goals. At Peak Motion Performance Physiotherapy, we assess your foot mechanics, gait, and movement patterns to determine the right orthotic solution — one that supports long-term comfort and performance.

Who might benefit from custom orthotics?

Orthotics can help both active and everyday individuals with:
• Plantar fasciitis or heel pain
• Flat feet or high arches
• Foot, knee, or hip pain during walking or running
• Chronic ankle instability
• Post-surgical support
• Uneven wear on shoes or leg length discrepancy
• Difficulty standing for long periods without pain

Whether you’re a runner with foot discomfort, a nurse on your feet all day, or someone recovering from a lower extremity injury, orthotics can provide support where your body needs it most.

How do I know if I actually need orthotics?

We perform a full lower-body movement assessment, gait analysis, and foot screen to determine if custom support is the right choice. Sometimes, pain stems from how the foot interacts with the ground — other times, it’s a combination of foot mechanics and upstream issues like hip weakness or joint mobility. If orthotics are appropriate, we’ll recommend the best type and level of support. If they aren’t necessary, we’ll tell you — and help you address the root cause another way.

What should I expect during the process?

During your visit, we evaluate your walking and standing mechanics, joint alignment, foot posture, and load distribution. Based on your needs, we may perform a digital or foam impression of your feet. We then order a custom orthotic designed for your specific activity level — whether it’s running, walking, weightlifting, or general daily wear. We also guide you through a short break-in period and provide exercises to help your body adjust to the new support.

Are these covered by insurance?

Custom orthotics are typically not covered by insurance, but we provide itemized documentation for patients who want to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Many people find the long-term benefit — less pain, better movement, fewer injuries — far outweighs the initial cost.

Will I need to wear them forever?

Our goal isn’t to make you dependent on orthotics. They’re used strategically — especially when structural support is needed for pain relief, performance, or injury prevention. For some people, they’re part of a long-term plan. For others, they serve as a temporary tool while we address strength, mobility, and movement patterns throughout the body.
